Properties of track symbols

Introduction

tracks.jpg Track symbols are the optical link between blocks, switches, signals and other objects on the track plan and serve as an orientation to the user. They themselves, however, do not represent block-to-block connections, these connections are established by routes. Using the Router it is possible to convert the optical connection represented by the track symbols to effective routes usable by Rocrail.

The symbols do not represent a certain length of track - a single track symbol can stand for a few centimetres distance, or even for many meters. This allows to create schematic, compact track plans. Track symbols should always be used sparingly, since each object takes processing power.

More information on using track symbols can be found in chapter Track Layout and in the Step-by-Step guide chapter 6.1.
