ROCRAIL



The decoders have to be initiated in Rocrail. Although the information how to do this is contained in the software too, the procedures are explained here. Symbols for turnout, sensor and push button have to be created in the layout. The single “circle” as symbol for the occupation sensor of a turnout might work quit well. Names for them are allocated by the user. Than information has to be inserted into configuration tables.

Turnout decoder


The Rocrail default “Bus” number is “9”. This Bus is used to control turnouts. Each turnout decoder controls 2 turnouts and reports movement and occupation of them. Each of both turnouts is allocated a unique number out of the range 1 .. 256(nr. 9 is skipped). This is the Rocrail “Address” number. Occupation of the turnout is reported with a sensor having the same Bus and Address as the turnout the sensor belongs to.

Insert “9” into field “Bus”.

Insert the unique number of the turnout into field “Address”.

Select “Single Gate”.

For the field “Type” select “Output”.

e.g. (turnout 21 is inserted as Bus 9 Address 21)

“Sensor turnout” select the sensor name for this turnout.

“Sensor straight” select the sensor name for this turnout.

Select“Inverted”.

“Occupancy” select the sensor name for this turnout

Insert “9” into field “Bus”.

Insert the unique number of the out into field “Address”.

e.g. (sensor for turnout 21 is inserted as Bus 9 Address 21)



Sensor decoder


Each decoder has eight digital and one analogue sensor. Each decoder is allocated a unique free IP-address out of the range 192.168.xxx.2 - 192.168.xxx.250, skipping 192.168.xxx.9. The last triplet is the Rocrail “Bus” number. The sensors report using “Address” numbers 1 .. 9.
The analogue sensor is made available on the PCB and a framework for using it is in the software. The exact use is up to the user to create.

Insert the last part of the IP- address into field “Bus”.

Insert the port number of the sensor into field “Address”.

e.g. (192.168.1.161 sensor 6 is inserted as Bus 161 Address 6)



LED switch decoder


Each decoder is allocated a unique free IP-address out of the range 192.168.xxx.2 – 192.168.xxx.250, skipping 192.168.xxx.9. The last triplet is the Rocrail “Bus” number. The outputs are switched using “Address” numbers 1 .. 8.

Insert the port number of the output into field “Address”.

e.g. (192.168.0.31 port 5 is inserted as Bus 31 Address 5)
