RFID
Q: If parallel tracks have both transponders, will the RFID detection in the Locos be precise enough not to report a transponder found under the parallel track? (Crosstalk)
IR
IR Senders between the tracks and a IR receiver in the loco. Each sender has a unique code.
Q: Is it usable by daylight?
GPS
Location by satellite could be an alternative to RFID if its resolution is within centimeters.
Disadvantage: Not suitable for modular and/or movable layouts.
