Locomotive Throttle Railcom Speed
Content → Rocview → Control Dialogs
speed in km/h shows the speed reported from the loco decoder via Railcom
Railcom feedbacks are defined in the RCN-217
RCN-217 is the reference document for DCC
The implementation of the speed reporting feature in a loco decoder (or not) is the individual decision of the respective decoder manufacturer
Currently known manufacturers status (incomplete list), as of 03/2022:
Manufacturer | Function available | comments |
---|---|---|
D&H | yes | not with DH06A |
ESU | no | |
ZIMO | yes | all decoder types |
The speed reporting has to be calibrated when first time using a decoder in a loco, using e.g. speed measure in a block or similar.
See decoder manual for the relevant configuration variables.
In the technical view, the speed information is generated by the EMF of the motor
Once calibrated the decoder reports the true speed at any speed level, independent from decoder-defined speed curves or other influences
Prerequisites for this feature
- DCC
- Railcom decoder with the implemented feature "true speed"
- Railcom is supported by sensors and central station
