Design of interval timetables with class and loco option "look up schedule if idle"

  • Works with hourly and absolute timetables

Example:

The S-Bahn S80 shall commute every 20 minutes between 6:00 a.m. and 9:59 p.m., and every 30 minutes from 10:00 p.m. to 5:59 a.m

5 schedules (FP) have to defined (in the example, all FPs drive the same route):

  • FP1 hourly, departure hour+10, from hour 0 - 23
  • FP2 hourly, departure hour+30, from hour 6 - 21
  • FP3 hourly, departure hour+50, from hour 6 - 21
  • FP4 hourly, departure hour+40, from hour 22 - 23
  • FP5 hourly, departure hour+40, from hour 0 - 5

Allocation:

  • For all FP the class is set to eg: "S80".
  • The class of the locomotive is also set to "S80" and the option "look up schedule if idle" is set.

Process:

  • Place the loco in the starting block of the FP
  • Start automatic mode
  • the loco checks every model minute whether one of the FP defined above applies
  • As soon as an FP applies, the locomotive is started and the FP processed

Differences / Advantages compared to the method of linked schedules in a tour

  • It is no longer necessary to set a tour or FP explicitly on the locomotive
  • With a tour, only the first FP in the list pulls, with the method with class each FP is started if the conditions "class", "time" and "locomotive is in the starting block" are met
  • For the example process mentioned above, 2 tours would be necessary (day cycle, night cycle) which must be started alternately with actions → omitted
  • For a test of the timetable processes with "Search timetable when idling" with virtual automation, the option "virtual automation" must also be ticked for the locomotives. This o
  • option applies to a Rocrail session and will be deleted when you end it.

sample plan

see above in the german section our virtual test example with 2 commuting S-Bahn trains and one commuting regional train.

  • Load the workspace
  • stop the clock (the test plan runs at 10x speed!)
  • The "Setup" button is used to set the settings for correct operation.
  • check "virtual automatic" in the properties / details for the 3 locomotives set by setup (virtual automatic is only available with support key)
  • Switch on automatic.
  • Start the clock again and let's go…
